Washington Memorial Park Marker Policy

Nearly all sections require flush (flat) markers only. Upright monuments are permitted in very few areas: only Section 6, designated blocks of Section 23, and Cascade Court.

For the vast majority of families, the choice comes down to two materials: granite or bronze. Both last. Granite is what most families choose, because there is far more you can do with it.

Benches available in Sections 6, 23, designated blocks of 20, and the Rose Urn Garden of Section 18.

SECTION

About Flush Markers

A flush marker, also called a flat or lawn-level marker, rests level with the grass rather than standing upright, so the lawn stays open. It is the standard style here, available in granite or bronze, as a single marker or a companion marker shared between two people. Nearly every section requires flush markers only; upright monuments are permitted in Section 6, designated blocks of Section 23, and Cascade Court.

A flush marker, also called a flat or lawn-level marker, rests level with the grass rather than standing upright. The lawn stays open, and the marker is permanent, so your family always has somewhere to visit.

Why Granite

The number-one reason families choose granite over bronze is personalization. Granite gives you over twenty stone colours across three pricing tiers, ceramic steel photo portraits, hand diamond etching, and custom engraving and scenes, none of which is possible with cast bronze. It resists weathering and UV fading, and it is priced all-inclusive: stone, engraving, wording and installation are all in the figure. Photos are the only add-on.

Diamond & Laser Etched Portraits

Permanent artwork carved directly into the granite

A hand diamond-etched portrait on Absolute Black granite, permanent artwork carved directly into the stone

Hand diamond etching is a portrait technique where skilled artisans etch a photograph's likeness directly into the granite, one dot at a time, using diamond-plated tools. The result is a deep, permanent impression, more lifelike and durable than a surface-level laser etch. For best results, the portrait area should be at least 6″ tall, and a high-quality source photo makes a real difference.

Absolute Black granite only. Subject to artistic rendering, so it is not an exact photo duplicate.
