Rock of Ages Columbarium

Rock of Ages is a granite columbarium built around an open courtyard. Seven double-sided sections stand under a timber pavilion: walls A, B and C along the south bank, E, F and G along the north, and Wall D standing across the west head of the courtyard. Every section carries five tiers of five niches on each of its two faces.

Every niche carries 2 rights of interment, which is two people, usually a husband and wife, on one contract. There is no separate companion product to buy here; two is simply what a Rock of Ages niche holds.

Half of the faces look into the courtyard and half look out over the lawn. The courtyard faces are the sheltered, enclosed side. You stand between two walls with the benches beside you. The outward faces look across open grass and trees. It is the same building and the same stone; it is a genuinely different place to stand, and families almost always know which one is theirs once they have stood in both.

Tiers run A at the bottom to E at the top, with five spaces across each face numbered 1 to 5. Two granite memorial benches sit in the courtyard. Both have been sold. They are not available for purchase and cannot be quoted; they are part of the place rather than something to buy.

The price of the niche buys the space and its two rights of interment. The engraving, the opening and closing when someone is placed, the recording of the interment, the bronze vase and the Endowment Care Fund contribution are charged alongside it.
