Cremated remains rest here in one of three ways: a niche in a columbarium, burial of the urn in the ground, or scattering. Every niche at Washington Memorial Park carries the right to place two urns, so a couple is one contract; the only exception is the Veterans Court of Honor, where a niche holds one.
What Is a Columbarium?
A columbarium is a structure full of individual compartments, called niches, each one built to hold urns. It is one of the three ways to place cremated remains here. The other two are burying the urn in the ground and scattering.

Each niche is sealed with a granite or bronze faceplate that can be engraved with the name, dates, and a personal inscription. Washington Memorial Park has six columbarium settings. They are shown below with what each one costs; you are welcome to walk any of them during park hours.

Garden of Meditation
Curved granite walls in an established garden near the chapel, with benches and mature planting around them.
Rock of Ages Columbarium
A natural-stone courtyard built into the hillside. It is sheltered and quiet, and it looks out over the park.
Mountain View Columbarium
A glass-front island indoors, where the urn and a few keepsakes stay in view. Open and comfortable year round.
Radiance & Serenity
Two indoor glass-front walls. Families set photographs and small keepsakes beside the urn, which makes these the most personal option here.
Eternal Light Columbarium
Warm light, stone floors and a room to sit in. Openings run from a single niche up to a family-sized one.
Terrace Garden Niches
A granite niche bank on the Terrace Garden Memorial Path, the newest part of the park.
Ground Burial of an Urn
A standard grave space
An urn can go into an ordinary grave space in any section, and one space holds up to three. This is what families choose to be beside relatives already here.
Lake Urn Garden
Spaces sized for cremated remains at the front of the park, beside the lake and the fountains. The more affordable of the two.
